Katie gets England Under 25 trial
Katie Ward has been selected for an England under 25 trial on Sunday November 8th at Barwell IBC, Leicestershire. This is a great reward for Katie's efforts over the last few years, especially in reaching the Area Final of the under 25 singles last season.
She will be joined at Barwell by fellow Kent bowlers Sian Gordon (the current England singles and Fours champion), Amy Banes, Jody Clinch - all from Swale. Stephanie Crates will also be present - the former Oyster player now representing Oxford.
We wish Katie all the best, and with time on her side hope this is the first of many appearances.
Champion of Champions
Joan Campbell travelled to White Oak where her opponent was Jean Williams. Over the first 15 ends, the White Oak Champion took the advantage, and her score moved to 18-11. By 19 ends, Campbell had moved to within 1 shot of her opponent, 17-18, adding another 3 on the 20th end, to lead 20-18. On the 21st end, Williams was holding 3 shots for victory, but Campbell had the back woods. With her third wood Campbell trailed the jack to lie 3 shots. Under pressure with her last wood, Williams bowled her last wood two wide, and Campbell was the victor. She now meets J Brain of Dartford Stone Lodge in the next round which will be played at the Angel.
